NIKE CORTEZ 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Nike Cortez celebrate its 40th anniversary and Singapore is the last country in the Asian league (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand) to hold the event with 8 local movers & shakers to custom the sneakers which were on showcase at Limited Edition store in Marina Bay Sands for a month.

NIKE CORTEZ WORKSHOP

The Killer Gerbil was invited by Nike to be part of Nike Cortez 40th Anniversary by creating an art piece through customizing the sneakers which will showcased soon along with 7 other local celebrities. Participants were invited to Singaporean sneakers customizer Mark Ong aka SBTG's workshop in which he share his customizing skills and help through the progress of individual custom.

Titled "Merantau", the term depict Minankabau (Indonesia) culture where the males of the family upon puberty will seek out new lands for life experience or fortune. Inspired by the culture, this custom also relate to my life as an artist working under The Killer Gerbil name for almost 10 years and the challenges faced as a graffiti artist in Singapore.

This custom encapsulates my signature style that I've perfected over the years and as Cortez is an inspiring shoe with many years of history, I too wish to celebrate my 40th as an artist 30 years in good times to come.

THE RIGHT TO STAND OUT

Over the weekend Converse held an event at Tangs Playlab to launch its latest offerings while showcasing local talents sneaker customizers Hypethetic, illustrator Sheryo and including yours truly and many other activities for the invited.

Some lucky people get to walk away with Converse vouchers over some art they created while at the event and one lucky dude even got away with a one-off collaborative custom done by the three artists!

THE KILLER GERBIL CONVERSE ALL STAR CUSTOM

Sneakers giant Converse recently commissioned The Killer Gerbil for a Chuck Taylor custom sneakers for the latest collection release event happening on the 12th November at Tangs Playlab where invitees can check out the new season offerings and stand a chance to win great prizes including the custom sneakers by yours truly.

MAGNETO

Following up from my previous project with New Balance Singapore to create a set of illustrations of their latest performance shoes, this time the artwork will come in the form of fridge magnets which will be available for free with every purchase of the 760 model performance shoes in all New Balance stores real soon.

THE KILLER GERBIL X NEW BALANCE 1064

Late last year New Balance Singapore approached The Killer Gerbil to produce a limited edition cushion version of the 1064 running shoe. The cushion serves to introduce the latest update of its top range NBx performance runner and incorporates elements of yours truly on a caricature version of the runner.

The cushion comes free with every purchase of the 1064 running shoe, and is exclusively available at all New Balance Concept stores and selected retailers. Shits mad limited so you know the deal.

FANBOY

I frequent Indonesian lifestyle forum Footurama for all those daily updates and had a pretty surprise stumbled upon an unofficial sneakers custom by a local customizer that goes by the name of ngishngosh with his customized pair of Vans Chukka covered in The Killer Gerbil graphics. Looking real good!

GERBIL VAN DOREN

My favourite Vans-updater Mr Ken from Warped Store recently approached me for a commissioned custom job on a pair of blank Vans Authentic and solely requested for the Circles Of Trust design which I live painted for WarpedWorldWide event last March.

The "COTAuthentic" comes with custom artworks on canvas shoes, insoles, box and leather lace.
