NANYOU

The Killer Gerbil was once again invited to be part of local entertainment magazine Nanyou on their "Men's Favourite Toys" September issue. We decided to use our old Batik Gerbil creation which we thought fits the bill and just in case you can't read Mandarin from below's article, here's what we have to say about our contribution:"I remember growing up with a favorite Teddy Bear soft toy which was my everything. It followed me wherever I went and I can't never sleep without it beside me at night. My punching bag when times were tough as a kid and a great listener, I decided to experiment the ancient art of Batik and graffiti with little sewing experience to create my very own soft toy in ode of my great Teddy Bear."

Thank you Nanyou for the opportunity as always!

SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH LAH!

Since year 2000, our sunny Singapore has adapted a nationwide Speak Good English Movement to encourage Singaporeans to speak grammatically correct English. Moving on to this year's campaign which tagline is "Get It Right!", the National Library Board has commissioned selected few local artists and designers including yours truly to design an artwork cover which will be printed on blank notebooks as part of the activist toolkit which also include sticky notes and stickers among others to be given out to the public.

This year's campaign were officialized by the Guest-of-Honour Dr Vivian Balakrishnan (Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports) earlier today whom later presented signed artwork posters to individual artists and designers as a token of appreciation on stage.

A big thank you to the National Library Board and Althea Lim from The Barnett Group for having The Killer Gerbil to be part of this year's Speak Good English Movement!

WEEKEND WARRIOR

The Killer Gerbil was at Bishan Active Park earlier for Youth Summer Fest organized by local government bodies with fun filled activities for the masses with live graffiti act by none other than yours truly. Attended by Guest-of-Honour Mr Zainudin Nordin, Mayor for Central Singapore District (no, not the foursquare kind) and Minister Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, dude did a quick try out at graffiti and later tagged to officialize the event.

A huge thanks to my buddy Sim Chik from Nookmag for inviting to be part of this great youth targeted event and to everyone who came down for the love and support!

WAR VETS

I had the privilege to paint with good old buddies and local heroes Antz & Zero, this time for Carbon4 launch party Zouk mural which had to be done beforehand outside Carbon4's store in Haji Lane due the restriction of indoor spraying in the club. We were invited by Carbon4 to create 2 murals which will be placed at Zouk's main entrance and on stage for the catwalk backdrop.

You can check out the murals at Zouk this coming Saturday 3rd October for Carbon4 launch party. Cheers!

CARBON4

The Killer Gerbil just completed a commissioned graffiti mural for local label/store Carbon4. Located at 69 Haji Lane, Carbon4 is inspired by post war theme which they requested for their gas mask and splatter logo graphics on the 2 storey facade and free play for the interior which took 3 days to complete with tons of smoke breaks in between.

Carbon4 is already open for business as you are reading this and be sure to drop by to check out their store where they also carry good labels with likes of Obey, Xlarge and Subcrew apart from their own upcoming merchandises.
